Jasmine holds a PhD in Economics and Management from the University of New Brunswick, Master’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and University of London, and a BA from Carleton University. Before joining academia, Jasmine worked for the Government of Canada and in the private sector. Dr. Alam is an Associate Professor and Academic Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre, Cape Breton University and teaches Entrepreneurship and Strategy at the Shannon School of Business.
With a strong interest in social entrepreneurship, Dr. Alam works with start-ups focused on social change and is an Expert in Residence at the Innovation Cluster in Ontario as well as a member of the Wharton Venture Lab. Jasmine’s research areas include micro-finance, B Corporations, and Corporate Social Responsibility.
Jasmine joined the Board in 2026 and is a member of the Communication Committee.
