Catherine holds a PhD from the University of Calgary, an MBA from Concordia University, and a BBA from Bishop’s University. Before joining academia, Catherine spent almost twenty years in the private sector working in corporate planning, finance, and marketing. She also spent considerable time in the nonprofit sector as a volunteer, consultant, and President/CEO of a registered charity, which operated as a social enterprise.
Because of her diverse training and experience, Catherine integrates real-life experience across disciplines and sectors into her teaching, course design and pedagogy. Through experiential learning and community engagement, Catherine’s courses have contributed to building a change-making culture in the classroom and, at the same time, creating meaningful social impact in the community.
Catherine is an Adjunct Professor at Mount Royal University, and her research interests extend to social innovation, social enterprise, in addition to stigma and HIV. She is currently working on several nonprofit and finance case studies for classroom use.
Catherine joined the Board in 2020, is a member of the Executive Committee, serving as Co-president and is a member of the Conference and Communications committees.
