Aaron Turpin

Assistant Professor, Human Service Administration

I have a passion for research and development in the human services sector. My work (professionally and academically) focuses on engagement with innovative and entrepreneurial organizations. My goal is to serve others by helping organizations achieve their goals!

My Work as a Researcher:
One of my greatest strengths is producing relevant and impactful scientific knowledge regarding current and future issues in the human services sector. Outcomes from my work as a researcher include:

•Producing academic articles published in peer-reviewed scientific journals representing various disciplines in human services
•Participation in annual conferences, including leading paper, panel, and poster presentations
•Completing a PhD thesis on nonprofit social entrepreneurship that adopted a mixed-methods approach utilizing a nationally-representative sample and primary data collection

My Work in the Human Services Field:
Cultivating lasting partnerships with organizations that provide human services is an incredibly rewarding aspect of my work. Together, we build and implement highly effective programs that address pervasive social issues. Some examples of my work include:

•Analyzing the first province-wide database of youth well-being indicators to inform Integrated Youth Services activities across Ontario
•The development of a trauma-informed practice framework for a multi-site concurrent disorders treatment program
•A province-wide evaluation of workplace violence and health and safety in publicly-administered social services

My Work in Education:
I believe the future of human services belongs to new professionals who are entering the field. Through my practice as an educator at three different universities, I continue to commit myself to supporting a human services workforce that will accomplish great social change.

I am always open and interested to speak with representatives from all types of human service organizations that may be interested in collaborating.
